Skin tags are harmless, non infective little overgrowths of normal skin which can be unsightly and catch on things. Often you may find a skin tag on one’s neck, eyelids, in the armpits, chest and groin areas. There may be just one or a multiple number of tags of various sizes (from 1 to 4 mm) and raised away from the skin on a ‘stalk’. Rarely do they drop off. Electrolysis is also effective for facial thread veins, milia, blood spots, common warts, plane warts, seborrhoeic warts and age spots.
They can be removed by administering a tiny amount of local anaesthetic to the area and removing with a surgical blade or by cauterising it with diathermy (electrolysis). A small dressing may be applied afterwards. This procedure may take only 10 to 15 minutes.
