Methods to fight. What is obesity? Hormonal failures causes of Adiposity/obesity and weight loss treatment

Obesity is excess weight and fat in the subcutaneous tissue, organs and tissues, and hormonal failures. It manifests in an increase in body weight by 20 per cent or more from the average values due to adipose mass. It leads to psycho-physical discomfort, causes sexual disorders and diseases of the spine and joints and increases the risk of developing atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, hypertension, myocardial infarction, stroke, diabetes, kidney, liver, and disability and mortality from these diseases.

Effects

The most effective in treating obesity is the combined use of 3 components: diet, exercise and appropriate psychological adjustment of the patient. What is obesity, and how to determine its type? Firstly, obesity distinguishes into degrees, depending on the adipose tissue volume. Secondly, it separates into classes, depending on the causes of its development.

Obesity increases the risk of diabetes mellitus, hypertension and other diseases associated with excess weight. Causes of excess weight also affect the distribution of adipose tissue, the characteristics of fatty tissue (softness, elasticity, the percentage of fluid content), as well as the presence or absence of skin changes (stretching, enlarged pores, so-called “cellulite”).

What is obesity? What are the causes and how to calculate BMI?

So, what is obesity, and what are the reasons for its appearance? Among the main reasons for the sharp increase in weight in the first place, it is worth highlighting the situation when a person consumes more food than his body needs(in energy equivalent) throughout the day.

Also, being overweight is directly related to violations of the body’s regulatory system and metabolism. Such disorders lead to hormonal failures and, subsequently, the body’s accumulation of fat and excess fluid.

Causes

So, it is worth noting the fundamental causes of obesity:

  • unhealthy diet;
  • Binging;
  • Lack of physical activity;
  • sedentary lifestyle;
  • Low metabolic rate;
  • Hypothyroidism (problems with the thyroid gland), increased activity of lipogenesis enzymes or a decreased activity of lipolysis enzymes;
  • Genetic predisposition;
  • Diabetes;
  • Hormonal failures.

Considering these or other features, there are several ways to calculate healthy body weight. So, Brock proposed the most straightforward method. Other scientists also suggested individual tables based on preliminary statistics.

There were also suggestions to consider the length of the body and the chest volume. A healthy lifestyle and colonic irrigation will help maintain the body in good shape and prevent obesity.
