What tests should be done in case of bowel cancer?

17 Oct 2018 wellness-studio.co.uk

What tests should be done in case of bowel cancer? Cancer is a disease that requires an integrated approach to diagnosis. It is possible to make such a diagnosis reliably only after a complex of studies. But the suspicion of this disease can be caused by conventional tests that are easy to do in almost any laboratory. It is laboratory diagnostics that help determine which organ has potential problems, and then purposefully look for their cause. So what tests to do to identify bowel cancer and accurately assess the presence of the disease.
A malignant tumour is an actively growing tissue that requires a large amount of building material and energy. It actively consumes substances necessary for the growth of the organism and releases metabolic products, including those with toxicity. The main changes are associated with these two processes, what can be seen in the results of blood tests.
Specific changes rarely appear in the urine test in the case of cancer. But any deviations in the results is a reason to conduct a more thorough examination.
Blood in the urine is an early symptom of bladder or urinary tract cancer. But it can also occur with urolithiasis or glomerulonephritis.

What tests to do to identify bowel cancer? Blood tests.

Seven indicators are most important for the diagnosis of cancer in the biochemical blood test:
  • Total protein and albumin;
  • Urea;
  • Changes in blood sugar levels;
  • Bilirubin;
  • ALAT;
  • Increased alkaline phosphatase.
In oncology, blood coagulability significantly increases, the risk of thrombosis of large vessels and the formation of microthrombus in capillaries increases.
A blood test for markers of cancer tumours makes it possible to suspect oncology at an early stage, to assess the dynamics of the disease, to determine in time a relapse or the appearance of new metastases, to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. We figured out in a general sense, what tests to do to identify bowel cancer. But there is more focused research.
Tumour markers are such substances that are associated with the vital activity of a tumour and are either not detected at all in the body of a healthy person or are contained in minimal quantities. More than 200 such substances are known. But not all of them are equally successfully detected in medical practice.
Cytology has the highest specificity of all methods of laboratory diagnosis of cancer.
It is almost always possible to make a diagnosis and determine the type of a tumour reliably using cytology. The sensitivity of this method depends on the type of cancer and on how well the probe is taken for the study. For example, if the cancer cells did not get into the washings, the study will give a negative result, although the tumour itself may continue to develop.
After an initial examination, the doctor will decide what tests to do to identify bowel cancer. Good prevention of the intestinal oncology is colonic irrigation.
