Why a WC1 Clinic Can Make the Appointment Easier

Close to Work

If you work around Holborn, Bloomsbury, or nearby Central London, a WC1 clinic can make it easier to fit an appointment into your day without travelling across the city.

Easy for Local Residents

Clients who live around WC1 can access the clinic directly in High Holborn rather than booking a service described as “WC1” that actually operates elsewhere.

Convenient for Visitors

WC1 includes many hotels, offices, universities and cultural destinations. Visitors staying nearby can arrange a Central London appointment without adding a long journey to the day.

What Happens During a Colonic Irrigation Appointment?

1. Consultation

Your therapist discusses relevant health information, what has brought you to the clinic and any questions or concerns you have about the procedure.

2. Screening

Suitability is checked before treatment. This matters because colon hydrotherapy isn’t appropriate in every medical situation.

3. Gravity-Fed Session

Warm filtered water is introduced gradually using gravity. Your therapist controls filling and release according to your comfort and the bowel’s response.

4. Massage & Aftercare

Your therapist may use gentle abdominal massage where appropriate. Afterwards, your therapist can discuss normal hydration, food choices and practical aftercare.

A typical appointment is around 60 minutes including consultation. Your therapist stays with you throughout and can slow, pause, or stop the procedure based on your comfort.

Choose How You Want to Start

You can book one straightforward appointment, choose an enhanced option or select a short course if you already know you prefer a structured programme.

BEST FIRST STEP

One Colonic + Consultation

One complete consultation-led appointment with suitability screening and a closed-system, gravity-fed colonic. A simple choice if you are new to the procedure.

ENHANCED OPTION

Probiotic Implant + Colonic

This appointment combines colon hydrotherapy with introducing probiotic bacteria directly into the lower bowel after irrigation.

It is intended as a complementary microbiota-support option, not a guaranteed way to restore the intestinal microbiome.

SHORT PROGRAMME

Mini Detox – 3 Sessions

A three-session programme for clients who prefer a short structured course rather than a single appointment. It can also provide a practical framework for focusing on hydration, food choices and routine between visits.

What Does the Research Tell Us?

Colon hydrotherapy is a complementary wellbeing procedure, so scientific research should not be stretched into claims that it cures chronic disease. However, evidence from related bowel-irrigation techniques and abdominal massage provides useful context.

Controlled Bowel Irrigation

A 2025 systematic review examined 16 studies involving 1,567 people using medical transanal irrigation for chronic constipation and/or faecal incontinence.

Medical transanal irrigation is not the same procedure as wellness colon hydrotherapy. The research therefore provides context for controlled bowel irrigation but does not establish that a Parkland colonic treats chronic constipation.

Abdominal Massage

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 23 studies involving 1,431 adults found improved bowel-movement frequency, reduced intestinal transit time and reduced constipation symptoms compared with control groups.

This evidence relates to abdominal massage itself. It supports the rationale for using gentle massage as a complementary technique where appropriate, rather than proving that colon hydrotherapy treats constipation.

Probiotics, Antibiotics and the Microbiome

Probiotic products are often marketed as though they automatically restore the gut microbiome after antibiotics. Current research is more cautious. A systematic review found that results vary considerably between studies, probiotic products and individuals.

Read the systematic review on PubMed.

In our practice, before-and-after laboratory microbiome testing has shown improvement in some clients following antibiotic use. Beneficial bacterial groups that were below laboratory reference ranges before treatment were within those reference ranges on follow-up testing after colon hydrotherapy combined with probiotic implants.

These are documented before-and-after observations from our practice, not a controlled clinical trial. Individual microbiome responses vary, so we can’t guarantee the same result for every client.

A Practical Meaning of “Detox”

Colon hydrotherapy works directly with the contents of the large bowel. It does not remove toxins from the bloodstream, and it does not replace the normal functions of the liver or kidneys.

When we use the word “detox”, we mean it in a practical wellbeing sense: bowel cleansing followed by renewed attention to normal hydration, food choices, movement and digestive routine.

Similarly, any immediate change on the scales after bowel cleansing reflects changes in bowel contents and fluid rather than body-fat loss.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Before You Visit

No elaborate preparation is normally required. Eat normally, avoid a particularly heavy meal beforehand, and stay normally hydrated.

You do not need to fast, take laxatives, use an enema, or take activated charcoal before a standard appointment unless you have separate medical advice for another reason.

When Colonic Irrigation May Not Be Suitable

Contraindications can include active gastrointestinal bleeding, certain inflammatory bowel conditions, bowel perforation, recent major abdominal or bowel surgery, severe cardiovascular disease, renal failure, pregnancy and other clinically relevant conditions.

Review the full restrictions and contraindications before booking. If screening identifies a contraindication and treatment does not proceed, we will provide a full refund.

Which Underground station is closest?

Holborn Underground Station is nearby and is served by the Central and Piccadilly lines. The clinic entrance is on Little Turnstile, just off High Holborn.

Can I book only one colonic?

Yes. One consultation-led colonic is a complete appointment. You do not need to purchase a treatment course or package first.

What might I feel after the appointment?

Responses vary. Some clients describe feeling less full, lighter or more comfortable after bowel contents and gas have been released. A particular response cannot be guaranteed.
