Probiotic implant and sodium bicarbonate colonic irrigation in London
If you are looking for a more specialised form of colonic irrigation in London, this enhanced appointment combines sodium bicarbonate colonic irrigation with a multi-strain probiotic implant, personal consultation and suitability screening at Parkland Natural Health in Holborn.
Some clients choose this option after a course of antibiotics, travel or a significant change in diet. Others choose it to include probiotics in their digestive wellbeing routine or simply to try an enhanced colonic after a standard session.
Whether this is your first colonic or you have had colon hydrotherapy before, your therapist will discuss the procedure with you first and adapt the session according to your comfort and individual response.
What is included in this enhanced colonic?
- Personal consultation – discuss your bowel habits, digestive wellbeing and what you hope to achieve from the appointment.
- Suitability screening – we check that colonic irrigation is appropriate for you before proceeding.
- Closed-system colonic irrigation – carried out using our gravity-fed system with warm filtered water.
- Sodium bicarbonate colonic – this specialised colonic irrigation option includes sodium bicarbonate.
- Multi-strain probiotic implant – included as the probiotic element of the appointment.
- Gentle abdominal massage – used where appropriate during the session.
- Individual approach – the pace of the treatment can be adjusted according to your comfort and feedback.
Why consider probiotics after antibiotics?
Antibiotics are designed to act against bacteria. However, they can also affect some of the normal, harmless bacteria that form part of the body’s natural microbial environment.
The NHS explains that Candida is normally harmless, but changes in the balance of bacteria can allow it to grow more readily. Antibiotic use is one recognised factor that can contribute to such a change.
For this reason, many people become more interested in their microbiome, digestive wellbeing and probiotics after completing a course of antibiotics. Our probiotic implant and sodium bicarbonate colonic is designed for clients who would like to include a multi-strain probiotic preparation as part of an enhanced colonic irrigation appointment.

Sodium bicarbonate and Candida: what does the research show?
Sodium bicarbonate has also attracted scientific interest because laboratory research has demonstrated antifungal activity against yeasts and other fungi.
A study published in Mycopathologia investigated sodium bicarbonate against 70 fungal strains. A concentration of 10 g/L inhibited the growth of 80% of the fungal isolates tested, while the reported MIC90 for yeasts was 5 g/L. In an ex vivo part of the study, fungal growth was completely inhibited in 79% of infected clinical specimens exposed to the tested sodium bicarbonate conditions.
Scientific source: Letscher-Bru et al. – Antifungal activity of sodium bicarbonate against fungal agents causing superficial infections, PubMed PMID 22991095.
Another laboratory study tested several compounds against Candida albicans, Candida guilliermondii and Candida lusitaniae. The researchers reported that sodium bicarbonate at its minimal inhibitory concentration induced necrosis of Candida cells.
Scientific source: PubMed – study of sodium bicarbonate activity against Candida species, PMID 24752490.
Separate research examining Candida albicans found that 5% sodium bicarbonate produced a statistically significant reduction in colony-forming units compared with the control under the conditions studied.
Scientific source: de Sousa et al. – Effect of sodium bicarbonate on Candida albicans adherence to thermally activated acrylic resin, PubMed PMID 20027444.
Importantly, these are laboratory and ex vivo findings. They demonstrate biological antifungal activity of sodium bicarbonate under the conditions studied, but they do not establish that sodium bicarbonate colonic irrigation is a medical treatment or cure for intestinal candidiasis.
Why combine sodium bicarbonate with a probiotic implant?
This appointment brings two distinct elements together in one session. Sodium bicarbonate is incorporated into the colonic irrigation, while the probiotic preparation provides a selected mixture of bacterial cultures.
For clients particularly interested in their digestive environment after antibiotics, travel, or dietary change, this combination offers a more specialised alternative to our standard filtered-water colonic.
Some clients also choose this option because they are interested in Candida, probiotics or changes in their gut microbiome. Your therapist can discuss these concerns with you during the consultation while keeping the treatment appropriate to your individual circumstances.
What is in the probiotic implant?
The probiotic preparation used for this appointment contains more than 30 billion beneficial bacteria at the time of manufacture and includes the following bacterial cultures:
- L. acidophilus – 45%
- S. thermophilus – 10%
- B. bifidum – 6%
- B. longum – 3%
- L. rhamnosus – 25%
- L. plantarum – 7%
- L. bulgaricus – 3%
- L. salivarius – 1%
The probiotic implant is a key feature that distinguishes this appointment from our standard colonic irrigation session.
What happens during the session?
First, your therapist will discuss your general health, bowel habits and any relevant recent changes, including antibiotic use, travel or changes in diet. This consultation also gives you an opportunity to ask questions and discuss which colonic option is most appropriate for you.
During the procedure, we introduce warm filtered water into the colon using our closed-system, gravity-fed setup. We carefully control filling and release, while your therapist works with your feedback throughout the session and may use gentle abdominal massage where appropriate.
This enhanced colonic includes sodium bicarbonate, followed by the probiotic element of the appointment.
Who may consider this enhanced colonic?
People choose this appointment for different reasons. It may appeal to clients who:
- have recently completed a course of antibiotics;
- have experienced a significant change in diet or water while travelling;
- are interested in probiotics and their digestive microbiome;
- are concerned about changes in their normal microbial balance;
- are interested in Candida and the relationship between antibiotics and normal bacterial balance;
- have previously had a standard colonic and would like to try an enhanced session;
- want to combine sodium bicarbonate colonic irrigation with a probiotic implant.
You may also be comparing different colonic options because of concerns such as bloating, trapped wind, occasional constipation, incomplete emptying or a bowel that feels sluggish or irregular. Your therapist will discuss your individual circumstances before proceeding.
If you would prefer a simpler first appointment without the sodium bicarbonate and probiotic elements, you can also view our standard colonic irrigation session with consultation.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
You do not need to fast or follow a complicated cleansing programme before coming to the clinic.
A quick tip: don’t drink any liquids two hours before your procedure. Besides, do not take laxatives or drink coffee before and after treatment. However, you don’t need to fast before or after visiting us.
This simple preparation is usually sufficient before attending your appointment.
Your suitability and comfort come first
Before the procedure begins, your therapist will carry out a suitability screening and answer any questions you may have. If screening shows that colonic irrigation is not suitable for you, we will not proceed and you will receive a full refund.
If you have symptoms that may indicate an infection, persistent digestive symptoms, recurrent thrush, or another medical condition, colonic irrigation should not replace appropriate medical assessment.
You can review our colonic irrigation suitability, restrictions and contraindications before booking.

Professional and Detailed Tone.
I recently had my first colon cleanse at Parkland Natural Health, and I was thoroughly impressed with both the quality of care and the professionalism of the service provided.
As a first-timer, I approached the appointment with some apprehension, but Anatoli, who conducted the session, was exceptional from start to finish. He ensured the procedure went smoothly and took the time to explain the entire process clearly, helping me feel informed and at ease. His calm demeanour and respectful manner contributed greatly to making the experience comfortable and dignified.
The clinic itself is spotlessly clean, quiet, and welcoming â a true reflection of the professionalism with which the service is delivered. Anatoli is not only experienced but also a genuinely personable individual. I found our conversation throughout the session to be both interesting and pleasant, which made the time pass quickly and helped ease any remaining anxiety.
It was evident that Anatoli is dedicated to his clientsâ wellbeing and takes pride in delivering high-quality care. The procedure was handled with great attention to detail and hygiene, and I left feeling both physically refreshed and reassured by the overall experience.
If youâre considering a colonic for the first time or seeking a reliable, professional practitioner, I can wholeheartedly recommend Parkland Natural Health. Anatoli offers not only excellent service, but also a human touch that makes all the difference.
A thoroughly positive experience.

I have been coming here for ages. I started off with the basic colonics which helped me a lot with my digestion. Then I started doing the varioius colonics with implants depending on my needs all with fantastic results. I am now very impressed by the Probiotic implant & colonic option. The latter has doubled the effect of a healthy digestive system. I don’t bloat anymore even if I eat bad for a while
