Three-session sodium bicarbonate colonic irrigation course in London
Our sodium bicarbonate colonic course in London combines three closed-system colon hydrotherapy appointments with a carefully prepared sodium bicarbonate solution. We provide the treatments at Parkland Natural Health in Holborn, Central London.
This course suits clients who prefer a structured series instead of a single appointment. In particular, clients may choose it when they are interested in bowel regularity, incomplete emptying, bloating or a sluggish bowel. Others choose it because they are interested in scientific research into sodium bicarbonate and fungi such as Candida.
Your therapist can adjust the spacing between appointments according to your bowel habits, previous experience and response to each session. Many clients choose appointments about one week apart. However, everyone responds differently, so the course does not need to follow a rigid timetable.
What is included in the course?
- Three colonic irrigation appointments using our closed-system, gravity-fed equipment.
- Personal consultation to discuss your bowel habits, digestive comfort and reasons for choosing the course.
- Suitability screening before your first treatment.
- Sodium bicarbonate solution prepared for use during each suitable session.
- Warm filtered water with controlled filling and release.
- Gentle abdominal massage where appropriate for comfort and release.
- Review between appointments so your therapist can consider your response and adapt the course where appropriate.
In addition, online booking gives you our 16% package discount, making the course better value than the standard price.
Why do we use sodium bicarbonate?
Scientists have studied sodium bicarbonate because laboratory research shows antifungal activity against several types of fungi and yeast.
For example, researchers tested sodium bicarbonate against fungal samples from human skin and nail infections. They found activity against yeasts, dermatophytes and moulds.
Scientific source: PubMed PMID 22991095 – Antifungal activity of sodium bicarbonate against fungal agents causing superficial infections.
Researchers have also studied Candida albicans. One study found that sodium bicarbonate affected the ability of C. albicans to attach to acrylic surfaces. Another laboratory study found antifungal activity when researchers tested sodium bicarbonate against several Candida species.
Scientific sources: PubMed PMID 20027444 – Effect of sodium bicarbonate on Candida albicans adherence and PubMed PMID 24752490 – Experimental research involving Candida species.
These studies help explain the scientific interest in sodium bicarbonate and fungi. However, they are laboratory studies. They do not show that sodium bicarbonate colonic irrigation removes intestinal Candida or treats intestinal candidiasis.
Candida and the intestinal microbiome
Candida albicans can occur naturally in the human intestine. Changes in diet, medication and the intestinal environment can also affect the fungal part of the gut microbiome.
For example, researchers followed healthy participants before and after a short course of antibiotics. They found changes in gut fungi and, in some participants, increases in fungal load and C. albicans.
Scientific source: PubMed PMID 36448778 – Antibiotics and gut mycobiota dynamics.
Researchers continue to investigate intestinal fungal overgrowth. However, medicine still lacks widely accepted diagnostic criteria, and scientists continue to study its clinical importance.
Scientific source: PubMed PMID 42354989 – Clinical Significance of Intestinal Fungal Overgrowth.
Therefore, we do not use a colonic appointment to diagnose a fungal infection. If you suspect an infection or already have a diagnosis, you should seek appropriate medical advice.
Why choose a course of three irrigations?
Sodium bicarbonate is only one feature of this package. The course also gives you three bowel-irrigation appointments instead of one session.
Researchers have studied repeated bowel irrigation in people with constipation and difficulty emptying the bowel. Medical transanal irrigation differs from professional colon hydrotherapy at Parkland Natural Health. Nevertheless, this research gives useful clinical context for repeated irrigation and bowel function.
What does research show about regular bowel irrigation?
A 2025 systematic review looked at 16 studies involving 1,567 people with chronic constipation and/or faecal incontinence. Most observational studies reported better symptoms, quality of life or both. However, the researchers also called for more high-quality randomised studies.
Scientific source: PubMed PMID 41168141 – Transanal irrigation in chronic constipation and faecal incontinence.
A 2026 multicentre study followed 216 adults with functional constipation. Participants reported better satisfaction with bowel function, while constipation severity decreased during follow-up.
Scientific source: PubMed PMID 42011892 – Transanal Irrigation in Functional Constipation: Long-term Results.
An earlier study of retrograde colonic irrigation also found improvements in selected people with constipation. These included less feeling of incomplete bowel emptying.
Scientific source: PubMed PMID 18720454 – Prospective study of colonic irrigation for defaecation disorders.
Together, these studies support scientific interest in repeated bowel irrigation as a bowel-management option. However, they do not prove that three professional colonics will produce the same result for every client.
Colon filling and normal bowel reflexes
During colon hydrotherapy, controlled filling and release engage normal sensory responses involved in bowel emptying.
In one human study, researchers examined the recto-colic reflex. When rectal filling produced the urge to empty the bowel, pressure and contractions increased in the left colon.
Scientific source: PubMed PMID 9028993 – Recto-colic reflex: role in the defecation mechanism.
This research helps explain the normal reflexes involved in filling and emptying the bowel. However, we do not claim that colon hydrotherapy permanently strengthens bowel muscles or guarantees independence from laxatives.
Who may choose this three-session course?
This package may appeal to clients who want a short and structured series of treatments. In particular, clients may choose it when they are interested in:
- more regular or predictable bowel emptying;
- a feeling of incomplete evacuation;
- bloating or trapped wind;
- a sluggish bowel;
- three sodium bicarbonate sessions instead of booking separately;
- research into sodium bicarbonate and Candida.
However, this course does not replace medical diagnosis or antifungal treatment.
What happens during each appointment?
Your therapist uses our closed-system, gravity-fed colonic irrigation setup with warm filtered water. Throughout the session, the therapist controls filling and release according to your comfort and feedback.
Where suitable, your therapist adds a carefully prepared sodium bicarbonate solution during the procedure. Gentle abdominal massage may also help with comfort and release. At later appointments, your therapist can review how you responded to the previous session.
How should I prepare?
A quick tip: don’t drink any liquids two hours before your procedure. Besides, do not take laxatives or drink coffee before and after treatment. However, you don’t need to fast before or after visiting us.
Is this course suitable for everyone?
We include consultation and suitability screening before treatment. If screening shows that colon hydrotherapy is not suitable for you, we will not proceed and we will give you a full refund.
You can also review our colonic irrigation suitability, restrictions and contraindications before booking.
One sodium bicarbonate session or a course of three?
If you prefer to try one treatment first, see our Sodium Bicarbonate Colonic Irrigation.
Alternatively, if you want three standard filtered-water sessions without sodium bicarbonate, see our Mini Detox – 3 Colonic Irrigation Course.
You can also compare all our colonic irrigation treatments and packages.

Mel McGrath –
I was nervous to go for a colonic and wondered if it would be really awkward and embarrassing, but Anatori was really professional and made it all easy. Good central space and very experienced. Would recommend!

I would certainly recommend it. I visited Anatoli at the Holborn office, and the procedure was carried out very professionally in a clean and hygienic environment. I can’t comment yet on the efficacy of the treatment for a parasite in my bowel, but I live in hope and will certainly be booking further appointments.

Why did I wait so long? I hadnât realised Parklands had reopened, but it has! Iâve just had my first colonic post lockdown, and itâs truly the perfect way to help move into our ânew normalâ both mentally and physically with a positive approach. Lockdown was challenging for many of my friends and me with often restrictions buying certain foods, immune-boosting vitamins and options to exercise. And then came the slight fear of trying to get back to healthy everyday life, i.e. work, travelling on public transport etc., things we took for granted before. For me, this colonic has helped me move forward. Thank you!
Anna –
This treatment made me feel like a whole new person in body mind and soul. I have Lyme disease and have issues with fatigue and feeling sluggish overall. Each treatment I had I felt improvement, and throughout 2x three rounds of bicarb colonics, others could recognise the results too. Mentally my thinking was more explicit, concentration and focus at work improved, physically I was able to lift more substantial at the gym, more flexible and better stamina, my friends commented on my skin glowing and that I was more positive, but the best part was the extra energy and bonus that I lost weight without trying

Anatoli is an excellent practitioner, and the colonic treatments really help with my digestive system, my sleep, my skin… everything! He’s professional and kind too, making what could be a very awkward/uncomfortable experience perfectly fine. Recommend highly!

Very professional and felt great after my mini detox of 3 sessions
KR –
The therapist was very informative and knowledgeable. I explained some of my symptoms and he was able to provide some useful nutritional information along with the colon cleanse. He explained the procedure very clearly and everything was done very efficiently and seamlessly in a tidy room. Only thing is that I was told that when I left that everything would’ve cleared out and that wasn’t the case on my way home. Luckily I wasn’t far.
Niki GI Jane –
Best colonics in London. Bicarbonate of soda colonic is unique and extremely beneficial. Anatori is highly professional and knowledgable
Kieran Fox –
Great service! Felt really relaxed and the place was spotless. Would definitely recommend to others.
Elisabeth Sau –
I had a great first time experience in Parkland Natural Health colonic cleanse. There are not that many places who offer a bicarbonate soda cleanse which was very helpful in getting my candida under control. The lady gave me advice and evaluated my condition and now I know exactly how to go on. The best thing about this was that I didn’t crave anything and was able to transition into a sugar free candida diet easily. Highly recommended if you’d like to reset your food addictions and start with a clean slate and healthy eating without cravings.
Josh –
Truly helpful Five years ago I was in a very poor state of health, including extreme nervousness, insomnia and a long-term outbreak of rosacea on my face. After several visits for treatments including colon hydrotherapy and shankaprakshalana, my overall health improved greatly and the symptoms above disappeared. The staff were and are very professional, friendly and attentive. I visit the centre regularly and recommend them to my friends all the time. Great place, professional staff, highly recommended!!!
Abi k –
I have been coming to the Wellness Studio for colonic irrigation for the past 4 years and always request Anthony. He is truly compassionate – knowledgeable, kind, considerate, pleasant and professional. The staff is really nice, too, and there’s always someone around keeping the place immaculate. Love the new on-line booking system.
Kyla Numeos –
I was extremely satisfied with the service(colonic irrigation), care and reassurance I received during my treatment at your clinic.
