DNA. The building blocks of life

Trillions of cells that make up your body contain DNA, also known as deoxyribonucleic acid. It serves as a blueprint that determines the physical features of all living things, including you! It looks like a twisted ladder or, as scientists call it, a ‘double helix’. Besides, your parents passed on this genetic information, which is why it is ‘hereditary’, making you unique.

Test results

Since the discovery of DNA in the 1950s, scientists have been investigating the human genome. Scientists have established links for many aspects of human health, like how genes influence disease risk, metabolism, food intolerances, response to exercise and many personality traits. Thanks to significant technological advances, you can learn what your DNA says about you.

How it works

All you need is saliva.

  1. Order the DNA Test online.
When you receive your kit, spit in the tube and send it back in the original box, which already includes prepaid postage. We’ll do the rest, like ensuring the sample is valid, checking 660,000 polymorphisms (gene variants) and interpreting the data. To see your results, log on to your account. 2. Register your kit immediately upon reception First, go to https://atlasbiomed.com/account and register your account. In the account, you should record the barcode on the sample collection tube (for your saliva) inside the box. Please remember that we will not give you access to your results if you do not register this barcode. 3. Spit in the tube Read the instructions carefully, spit into the tube up to the line, and then place your sample back in the original box. Don’t forget to read the instructions carefully. If not, you might accidentally contaminate your sample with chewing gum, food or cigarette smoke. 4. Return the kit by post Seal the box with your sample inside and return it by mail. The original box already includes prepaid postage, so drop it in your nearest postbox, and we will handle the rest. 5. We analyse your DNA Your sample is analysed in the lab using Illumina technology. We extract DNA from your saliva, and specific fragments are studied. It may take 4–8 weeks before your results are available on your account. Every sample is analysed on a case-by-case basis, and we will notify you personally if there are any changes to this timeframe. 6. Interpreting data We use algorithms based on published scientific research to analyse your DNA and establish personalised lifestyle recommendations. 7. Get the results We will add the results of your test to your account. This process usually takes up to 8 weeks. We will notify you by email as soon as the results are ready.
