What Does a Colonic Do?
Colon hydrotherapy works directly in the large bowel. Warm, filtered water is introduced gradually, then released with bowel contents and gas through enclosed tubing.
The immediate purpose is therefore bowel cleansing and evacuation. Some people report feeling lighter or less full afterwards, although individual experiences vary.
A colon cleanse should not be described as removing toxins from the bloodstream, burning body fat, curing digestive disease or replacing the normal functions of the liver and kidneys.
What Happens During a Parkland Appointment?
1. Consultation
We discuss why you are considering colon hydrotherapy, your relevant health history, current circumstances and any concerns before deciding whether treatment is suitable.
2. Gradual Treatment
Your therapist gradually introduces warm filtered water using our gravity-fed system and manages filling and release based on your comfort and response.
3. Afterwards
Most clients continue with their normal day afterwards. You can discuss practical questions about hydration, food and your journey home before leaving.
A typical Parkland appointment is around 60 minutes including consultation. We may use gentle abdominal massage where appropriate.

Is Colonic Irrigation Safe?
It would be misleading to say that colon hydrotherapy is completely risk-free or suitable for everyone. Safety depends partly on appropriate screening, individual health circumstances and how the procedure is carried out.
At Parkland, we conduct a consultation and suitability screening before treatment. Relevant contraindications can include active gastrointestinal bleeding, certain inflammatory bowel conditions, bowel perforation, recent major abdominal or bowel surgery, severe cardiovascular disease, renal failure, pregnancy and other circumstances.
If screening identifies a contraindication and treatment cannot proceed, we provide a full refund.
Persistent, severe, or unexplained bowel symptoms should be medically investigated rather than treated with colon hydrotherapy as a substitute for diagnosis or treatment.
What Type of Colonic Equipment Does Parkland Use?
Parkland uses a closed-system, gravity-fed colon hydrotherapy system with warm filtered water.
“Gravity-fed” means that the treatment does not depend on forcing water into the bowel under a fixed high pressure. Water is introduced gradually, and the therapist stays with you throughout the session to manage filling and release based on your comfort and response.
In a closed system, water and bowel contents leave through enclosed tubing, which helps make the procedure discreet.
