What Are You Hoping to Get From Your Appointment?

Less Fullness

Colon hydrotherapy works directly with the contents of the large bowel. Water, bowel contents and gas pass out through the closed system during the filling-and-release cycles. Some clients describe feeling lighter or less full afterwards.

A Sense of Reset

Travel, disrupted eating, medication or changes in routine can leave some people wanting to refocus on their digestive habits. A session can become a practical starting point for renewed attention to hydration, food choices and bowel routine.

Calm, Private Care

Many first-time clients are more concerned about privacy than the treatment itself. You remain covered, waste passes through enclosed tubing, and an experienced therapist stays with you throughout the appointment.

Choose a Colonic That Matches Your Priorities

You don’t need to start with a course. You can book one standard appointment first or choose an enhanced option if you already know what you prefer.

NEW TO COLON HYDROTHERAPY?

One Colonic + Consultation

A complete first appointment with consultation, suitability screening and one closed-system, gravity-fed colon hydrotherapy session. A simple choice if you would like to experience the treatment before considering other options.

INTERESTED IN MICROBIOME SUPPORT?

Probiotic Implant + Colonic

This enhanced appointment combines colon hydrotherapy with a multi-strain probiotic implant introduced into the lower bowel. Clients often choose it for microbiome-focused wellbeing, including after a course of antibiotics.

Individual microbiome responses vary, and the treatment should not be described as guaranteeing restoration of the intestinal microbiome.

IS TRAPPED GAS OR SPASM A CONCERN?

Anti-Spasmodic Herbal + Bicarbonate

A specialist enhanced colonic combining gravity-fed colon hydrotherapy with an anti-spasmodic herbal preparation and sodium bicarbonate. Some clients choose this option when cramping, bowel spasm or trapped gas is a particular concern.

This is a complementary wellbeing option and is not presented as a treatment or cure for IBS or another diagnosed bowel disorder.

WANT A MORE STRUCTURED RESET?

Mini Detox PLUS

A three-session enhanced programme for clients who value continuity and want different specialist components across the course, including herbal, mineral and probiotic elements.

At Parkland, “detox” is used in a practical wellbeing sense: bowel cleansing, along with renewed attention to hydration, diet, and digestive routine.

What Happens During Colon Hydrotherapy?

Consultation First

Your therapist reviews your health information, explains the treatment, checks for contraindications, and lets you ask questions before anything begins.

Gradual Gravity-Fed Water

A small disposable rectal tube is inserted, and warm filtered water is introduced gradually using gravity. The therapist controls the filling and release based on your comfort and how your bowel responds.

Closed-System Release

Water, bowel contents and gas leave through enclosed tubing. You remain covered for privacy, while you continue communicating with your therapist throughout the session.

We may also use gentle abdominal massage where appropriate. A typical appointment is around 60 minutes, including consultation, although treatment is adapted to the individual rather than rushed to meet a particular amount of cleansing.

Microbiome Support: What We Can and Cannot Promise

After Antibiotics

Antibiotics can alter the intestinal microbiome, which is one reason some clients become interested in probiotic support afterwards. However, scientific research does not support promising a universal microbiome “reset”.

A 2024 systematic review found mixed results when researchers examined whether probiotics could prevent or reverse antibiotic-related microbiome changes. Some studies found beneficial changes, while others found little effect or even delayed recovery.

What We Have Observed at Parkland

In our practice, before-and-after laboratory microbiome testing has shown improvement in some clients following antibiotic use. Beneficial bacterial groups that were below laboratory reference ranges before treatment were within those ranges on follow-up testing after colon hydrotherapy combined with probiotic implants.

These are documented before-and-after results observed in our practice, not the results of a controlled clinical trial. Individual microbiome responses vary, so we can’t guarantee the same result for every client.

Why Gentle Abdominal Massage Is Sometimes Used

Abdominal massage is one complementary technique a therapist may use during an appointment, when appropriate. Research on abdominal massage itself provides useful context for this part of the session.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 23 studies involving 1,431 adults found increased bowel-movement frequency, shorter intestinal transit time and reduced constipation symptoms compared with control groups.

This evidence concerns abdominal massage as an intervention in its own right. It does not establish that colon hydrotherapy itself treats chronic constipation.

A Treatment Designed Around Comfort and Control

Closed System

Bowel contents pass directly into enclosed tubing rather than an open container, helping the treatment remain discreet and professionally managed.

Therapist Guided

Your therapist remains present, monitors your response and can adjust, pause or stop the procedure whenever necessary.

Warm Filtered Water

Our standard colon hydrotherapy uses filtered water warmed to approximately body temperature. Mineral water or a cleansing enema isn’t required before a standard appointment.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Keep Preparation Simple

You normally don’t need to fast, have a cleansing enema, take laxatives, or take activated charcoal before colon hydrotherapy. Eat normally, avoid a particularly heavy meal beforehand, and stay normally hydrated.

Suitability Comes First

Colon hydrotherapy is not suitable for everyone. Contraindications can include active gastrointestinal bleeding, certain inflammatory bowel conditions, bowel perforation, recent major abdominal or bowel surgery, severe cardiovascular disease, renal failure, pregnancy and other clinically relevant conditions.

Review our contraindications before booking. If suitability screening identifies a contraindication, we will not proceed with treatment and will provide a full refund.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is your colonic irrigation clinic actually in Ealing?

No. Parkland Natural Health is in Holborn, Central London. This page is intended for people searching for colonic irrigation in Ealing who would like to travel to our specialist Holborn clinic.

Can I travel directly from Ealing Broadway to Holborn?

Yes. Ealing Broadway and Holborn are both on the Central line, so a direct Underground journey is normally possible. Check TfL before travelling in case of engineering works or service changes.

Does colon hydrotherapy treat allergies, skin problems or a weakened immune system?

No such claim should be made. Colon hydrotherapy works directly with water and the contents of the large bowel. It should not be presented as a treatment for allergies, skin disease, immune disorders or other systemic medical conditions.

Can I have a probiotic colonic after antibiotics?

Some clients choose our probiotic option after antibiotic use because they want microbiome-focused wellbeing. Research into probiotic restoration of the microbiome after antibiotics remains mixed, so we do not promise that treatment will return your microbiome to its previous state.

Do I need a cleansing enema or mineral water first?

No. A standard Parkland appointment uses warm filtered water and does not routinely require a cleansing enema, laxatives or a special bowel-cleansing preparation beforehand.

Can I book only one colonic?

Yes. You are not required to commit to a course. Many first-time clients begin with one session plus consultation and consider other options only after they know how they feel about the procedure.

What if I am unsure whether treatment is suitable for me?

You can review our contraindications before booking or complete the Bowel Health Self-Assessment. Your therapist will also carry out suitability screening before treatment begins.

Ready to Make Time for Your Digestive Routine?

If you are considering colonic irrigation in Ealing, you can start with a single consultation-led appointment at our Holborn clinic or compare our probiotic, herbal, and structured treatment options.

Choose the level of support that feels right for you. You don’t need to commit to a treatment course before your first appointment.
