A growing search question

Where Can I Get a Colonic Near Portsmouth?

If your priority is treatment within Portsmouth itself, choose a practitioner who genuinely operates there and check their training, treatment system and suitability-screening process.

If you are comfortable travelling to London, Parkland Natural Health is an established option in Holborn, Central London. We do not use Portsmouth as a virtual clinic location or imply that treatment takes place locally.

Know Where You Are Going

Our treatment takes place at one established clinic at 239 High Holborn rather than at temporary or advertised Portsmouth premises.

Know Who Stays With You

Your therapist remains present throughout the procedure, managing filling and release gradually according to your comfort and response.

Start With One

You do not need to commit to a course. If this is your first colonic, one consultation-led appointment is a simple starting point.

What Is Colon Hydrotherapy — and What Does a Colonic Do?

A colonic, also called colonic irrigation or colon hydrotherapy, uses water introduced gradually into the large bowel through specialist equipment. The water is subsequently released together with bowel contents and gas.

Its direct purpose is therefore bowel cleansing and evacuation. Some clients report feeling lighter or less full afterwards, although individual experiences vary.

Colon hydrotherapy should not be described as cleansing the bloodstream, removing systemic toxins, curing disease or producing body-fat loss. Its direct action is in the large bowel.

What Happens During a Parkland Appointment?

Parkland uses a closed-system, gravity-fed approach with warm filtered water. This allows treatment to be managed gradually rather than relying on a fixed high-pressure process.

1. Consultation

We discuss why you are considering colon hydrotherapy, relevant health history and whether treatment appears suitable for you.

2. Therapist-Led Treatment

Warm filtered water is introduced gradually. Your therapist controls filling and release according to your comfort and response.

3. Afterwards

Most clients continue with their normal day afterwards. You can discuss food, hydration and your return journey before leaving.

A typical appointment is around 60 minutes, including consultation. We may use gentle abdominal massage where appropriate.

Another question growing in search

Is Colonic Irrigation Safe?

Colon hydrotherapy should not be described as completely risk-free or suitable for everyone. Individual health circumstances matter, which is why clinicians assess suitability and discuss risks before treatment.

Relevant contraindications can include active gastrointestinal bleeding, certain inflammatory bowel conditions, bowel perforation, recent major abdominal or bowel surgery, severe cardiovascular disease, renal failure, pregnancy and other clinically relevant circumstances.

If screening identifies a contraindication and treatment cannot proceed, we will provide a full refund.

If you have severe, persistent, unexplained or newly changing bowel symptoms, medical assessment is more appropriate than using colon hydrotherapy as a substitute for diagnosis.

What Research Can Tell Us

Controlled Bowel Irrigation

A 2025 systematic review examined medical transanal irrigation for chronic constipation and faecal incontinence. It provides useful scientific context for controlled water-based bowel irrigation, although medical transanal irrigation differs from wellness colon hydrotherapy.

This research does not prove that Parkland colon hydrotherapy treats chronic constipation.

Gentle Abdominal Massage

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 23 studies involving 1,431 adults reported improvements in bowel-movement frequency, intestinal transit time and constipation symptoms with abdominal massage.

This evidence concerns massage itself and does not prove that colon hydrotherapy treats constipation.

Preparing for Your Appointment

You do not need to fast, take laxatives, or do a special cleanse before your appointment. Eat normally, avoid a particularly heavy meal immediately beforehand and maintain normal hydration unless you have received different medical advice.
